On World Water Day, the Abdul Latif Jameel Water and Food Systems Lab (J-WAFS) hosted a student presentation from PhD students Gokul Sampath, who is researching safe water access and quality in rural India, Carolyn Sheline, who works alongside J-WAFS principal investigator Amos Winter, and Jonathan Bessette, a mechanical engineering PhD student working on desalination. Carolyn presented her low-cost and water- and energy-efficient drip irrigation system for farmers in the Middle East and Africa that can help protect their limited supply of freshwater. Her project won first place in the 2020 J-WAFS World Food Day Video Competition.
