A revival for Egypt's Mamluk minbars

In one of the oldest districts in Cairo, a master woodworker reconstructs a 15th-century minbar that was stripped by thieves from the Mosque of Ghanim al-Bahlawan and passes the extraordinary skill of gameya, a joinery technique from Egypt’s Mamluk era, on to the next generation of woodwork artisans, including graduates of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo.
