Advisory committee member, Jameel Index for Food and Trade Vulnerability; Principal agriculture officer, Islamic Development Bank

Nur is an advisory committee member for the Jameel Index for Food and Trade Vulnerability and a principal agriculture officer at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Nur has over 20 years of experience in agriculture, agri-business, food security and rural development. He joined the IsDB in 2010 from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations. At IsDB, Nur provides leadership and implementation support in administrating the Bank’s sector policy and strategy, including directly managing internal- and external-facing priorities.

Nur holds an advisory position as part of the Jameel Index, a research project initiated by the Abdul Latif Jameel Water and Food Systems Lab (J-WAFS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and supported by Community Jameel. The project studies the implications of climate change on food security and how they relate to trade.

An agricultural economist by training, Nur took two master's degrees in agricultural development and agriculture economics from McGill University.
