Martien Van Nieuwkoop

As Global Director for the World Bank’s Agriculture and Food Global Practice, Martien provides leadership to the formulation and implementation of the Bank’s strategy and knowledge in agriculture and food, oversees the operationalisation of the Bank’s vision on agriculture and food in regional and country programs, and acts as senior spokesperson for agriculture and food Bank-wide and globally. Prior to his current position, he has held numerous managerial and leadership positions covering the Bank’s engagement on agriculture in Africa, Latin-America and South Asia. Martien is a Dutch national, who holds post-graduate degrees in Agricultural Economics from Wageningen University, The Netherlands, and in Business Administration from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C, USA.
