Need smaller units of governance for democracy to work: Abhijit Banerjee
Delivering the 27th Justice Sunanda Bhandare Memorial Lecture on “Democracy on the ground: What works, what doesn’t and why?”, Nobel Laureate Abhijit Banerjee argued that for India's democracy to really work, it needs smaller government units, noting that the vast size of Indian states makes it too difficult for voters to access information about their legislators.
