Anushka Shahdadpuri is an Abdul Latif Jameel Water and Food Systems Lab (J-WAFS) 2023 Travel Grant recipient and a master’s student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)'s department of urban studies and planning and institute for data systems and society.
Through the J-WAFS travel grant, Anushka will attend major water sector conferences, including Stockholm Water Week and the University of North Carolina (UNC) Water & Health Conference, to gain insights, build relationships and support her work in addressing water challenges.
Anushka is the founder of Aamchi, an Indian-based community-led organisation addressing water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) challenges in informal settlements. Aamchi leverages IoT-enabled rainwater harvesting technology and waterless technology based on hydrothermal carbonisation. Anushka was recently honoured with the The World Around's Young Climate Prize '25 Under 25.'
