Writing in The Financial Times, Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo (J-PAL) call for other governments to take the lead on foreign aid following funding cuts by the United States.
The 2019 Nobel prize-winning economists suggest practical policies that can fill gaps exposed by the suspension of USAID funding: “Calculations suggest if billionaires pay a minimum of 2% of their wealth in tax annually, it could raise up to USD 250 billion a year. The US is not necessary to get these policies going.”
