Abdul Latif Jameel World Education Lab
The world faces a major challenge to adapt to the changing nature of work: automation, globalisation, unemployment and the global refugee crisis are rapidly changing the paradigm for education. MIT and Community Jameel cofounded the Abdul Latif Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL) in 2017 with the mission to spark a global renaissance in education.
Through the MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab and Saudi Arabia chapters, we support entrepreneurs by providing them with mentorship, training, access to investment and networking opportunities.
The Abdul Latif Jameel-Toyota Endowed Scholarship was established in 1994 by Community Jameel to help young people achieve their potential at one of the world’s leading academic institutions.
The Andrea Bocelli Foundation-Community Jameel Scholarship was launched in 2019 to support students who study full-time at the Royal College of Music, London, one of the world’s leading conservatoires for the performing arts.
Tanweer Jameel was launched in 2005. Every year, Community Jameel partners with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Labour and Social Development and Saudi Airlines as the official carrier to reward orphaned children aged 14–18, who have consistently achieved high levels of school performance, with an annual trip abroad.
Transforming Refugee Education towards Excellence (TREE) is a collaboration between Save the Children and the MIT Abdul Latif Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL)
