Jameel-Toyota Scholarship 30th anniversary
Synopsis
Community Jameel and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Jameel-Toyota Scholarship with a luncheon honouring current and past scholars at MIT's Samberg Conference Centre on 25 September 2024.
The event includes remarks from Fady Jameel, vice chairman of Community Jameel, Melissa Nobles, chancellor of MIT and Sally Kornbluth, president of MIT. A networking dessert provides the opportunity for current and past scholars to network with MIT senior leadership as well as leadership and researchers of J-PAL, J-WAFS, J-WEL and the MIT Jameel Clinic and Community Jameel.
The Jameel-Toyota Scholarship was founded in 1994 to ease financial barriers for first-year MIT undergraduate students from around the world. The scholarship is named in recognition of the long-standing and close relationship between the Jameel family and the Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan. To date, the scholarship has supported more than 215 students from 27 countries, and has enabled opportunities for students who are refugees, asylum-seekers and internally-displaced persons.
