The Jameel Arts & Health Lab Global Majority Scholarship supports students and practitioners to attend the annual Arts Health Research Intensive at Britten Pears Arts in England.
About the Arts Health Research Intensive
The Arts Health Research Intensive is organised by the Social Biobehavioural Research Group at University College London, a World Health Organisation collaborating centre for arts and health.
The comprehensive training course offers a deep dive into the evidence base surrounding arts in health.
It gives participants essential skills in evaluation and research, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to this growing field.
What participants learn
In this course, attendees:
- Explore the development and scope of the field
- Learn about psychological, physiological, social and behavioural effects of arts engagement
- Discover research and evaluation methodologies
- Discuss practicalities and challenges in carrying out research
- Engage in group-based debates, activities and presentations

- Ankit Acharya (Nepal) is a public health professional and founder of Sustainable Public Health, an organisation focused on promoting sustainable and evidence-based research initiatives.
- Sameh Mikhail Farag (Egypt) is a researcher in public health, specialising in health economics and policy.
- Oihika Chakrabarti (Indian) is the founder of Manakhshetra Foundation and The Art Therapy Association in India.
- Akshata Parekh (India) is a doctoral student, therapist, facilitator and educator.
- Lamya Bizrane (Morocco) is a medical graduate and founder of a dance school.
