Ariel Furst is a principal investigator within the Abdul Latif Jameel Water and Food Systems Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she is Raymond (1921) & Helen St. Laurent Career Development Professor of Chemical Engineering. Ariel's J-WAFS-funded projects included an exploration of how to remove dangerous chemicals from the environment and a monitoring system for environmental pesticides. Her lab combines biological, chemical and materials engineering to solve challenges in human health and environmental sustainability.
Ariel received a Bachelor's of Science in chemistry from the University of Chicago in 2010 and a PhD from CalTech in 2015. She was an AO Beckman Postdoctoral Fellow in the lab of Professor Matthew Francis at UC, Berkeley developing sensors to monitor environmental pollutants.
