
The Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action participates in the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where leaders meet to accelerate investment and action to restore land and boost drought resilience.
The Jameel Observatory host a session entitled ‘Accelerating actions for healthy land in East Africa’ to discuss strategies for healthy land management and governance in drylands in the face of droughts and other shocks.
The Jameel Observatory and CGIAR co-organise a second session, entitled 'Scaling innovations for healthier land, livelihoods and livestock in East Africa', in which speakers focus on agri-food system innovations that boost the health of drylands and their reliance against droughts and other shocks. Guyo Roba, director of the Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action, is joined by Tahira Mohamed, fellow at the Jameel Observatory and post-doctoral fellow at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), and Dereje Wakjida, director of the IGAD centre for pastoral areas and livestock development.
