The Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo and the Goethe-Institut Kairo present a panel discussion exploring the role of traditional arts in the creative industries.
Coinciding with the Jameel House in Cairo’s annual winter art fair, hosted this year by the Goethe-Institut Kairo, a panel of artists, experts and entrepreneurs, including Jameel House in Cairo alumni and tutors, the discussion will explore:

Dr Mamdouh Sakr, programme manager, Jameel House in Cairo
Dr Mamdouh Sakr is an architect and a professor of Islamic architecture. As the programme manager of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo since 2009, he is responsible for delivering and developing the school’s curriculum to the same principles and standards as those of the The King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts’ London campus.
Noha El Qahwagy, tutor, Jameel House in Cairo; founder, Noha El Qahwagy
Noha El Qahwagy is a metalwork designer and 2019 graduate of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo, where she now heads the metalwork department. Following her graduation from the Jameel House in Cairo, Noha launched her brand, Noha El Qahwagy, creating home décor and accessories inspired by heritage design. A member of the Egyptian Heritage Preservation Foundation, she contributed to the Qijmas Collection display during HM King Charles III’s visit to Cairo.
Noha Ali, Jameel House in Cairo graduate (2020); founder, Naïa Design House
Noha Ali is an Egyptian-Swiss architect, art director and founder of Naïa Design House. A 2020 graduate of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo, she blends traditional woodwork with contemporary design to create eco-friendly, handcrafted home accessories and furniture inspired by Egyptian and Middle Eastern heritage. Her pieces have been showcased in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom, and are featured in showrooms across Cairo, Esna, Luxor and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Noha also leads wood-inlay workshops empowering young designers and women and is a member of the Egyptian Heritage Rescue Foundation.
